OINOUSSES is a cluster of 9 islands located in the North East of the Aegean Sea, close by to the Turkish coast-line. The biggest of the islands is Oinoussa. However, the most commonly name used by its local residents is “Egnoussa”. The name OINOUSSES comes from the Greek word OINOS (wine) -- which means a place full of wine. It has traditional architecture, lovely beaches and a calm environment. Oinouses is known for its rich marine culture and today most of the richest and most famous ship-owners worldwide come from this tiny island. The Oinousses is a quiet retreat for summer vacationers. A protected area, included in the Natura 2000 Network, Oinousses are full of beautiful small coves for swimming and beaches for those who better commune with nature.
